About BioValley
Basel is a major center for pharmaceutical, chemical, and modern biotechnology industries. Over 900 life sciences companies are present in the BioValley region, which constitute about 40% of the world’s life sciences industry.
Of the one million people living in the region, about one person out of ten is employed in the life sciences – as a researcher, technician, lawyer, manager, bus driver, plant worker, university professor, or student. And there is employment growth of about 1,000 to 2,000 new jobs in the industry each year.
Life sciences companies in the Basel area achieve an annual global turnover of over 100 billion dollars and an annual profit of close to 20 billion dollars.
BioValley Basel is a non-profit organisation. It is the Swiss pillar of the trinational BioValley Initiative. The association’s focus is to support individuals and institutions by providing access to the Life Sciences Community network and its broad range of knowledge and expertise in the field of Life Sciences.
BioValley Basel aims at:
- Foster a networking and integration platform amongst the Life Sciences Community in the Basel Region
- Enable and facilitate an open network, beyond political and geographical bounderies
- Moderate and support networking activities for the regional Life Sciences Community
